Here’s a list of Indian and famous books and authors for competitive exams.

General awareness and importance of books

The candidate’s general awareness is tested in most entrance tests. For this, generally, there is no fixed syllabus, but knowledge of motivational books by Indian authors and international classics, especially European books on Philosophy, English Literature and American Literature. The questions may be in the form of multiple choice questions, or you can draw from your understanding of what you have read in a book, or add quotations from the book you read in essays. Often, the examining board or previous toppers recommend books and authors that reflect the candidate’s current awareness and knowledge of fiction and non-fiction writers from India and internationally. These will include famous English books by Indian authors and international authors.
